Parks and playgrounds To Do in LA with Kids Visit LA

Spend the Day in Santa Monica’s New Tongva Park

IMG_2314.JPGI discovered a gem this weekend. The corner of Olympic and Main Street in Santa Monica is home to the nicest Starbucks I have ever been in – spacious, roomy and well appointed with multiple bathrooms and a shared sink space – this is the Starbucks of the future. There was ample street parking with 3 hour meters and a wide side walk area perfect for riding scooters. City Hall is here and the fountain out front is a cool nesting place for seagulls – so don’t play in the water – but do run around with your toddler. Its a great place to wear them out!  Across the street is Tongva Park, which features wide, flat paths perfect for riding scooters and an innovative playground featuring cool climbing structures, a rolling slide and fountains that spray intermittently to the delight of little ones! There is also an open area for flying kits or having a picnic. The park also hosts concerts periodically. For information or event schedules visit http://tongvapark.squarespace.com.  After playing at the park we rode our scooters and skateboards a couple of blocks North past Santa Monica Place to grab pizza at Joe’s on Broadway. Its great pizza by the slice! And then meandered back through the mall to return to our car, stopping to get gelato on the way at Ugo.  Read our reviews on Yelp!
