“Did you know we were married across the street from here?” I ran into a fellow Blogger & couldn’t contain myself! I’m a true blue LA girl through & through. My LosAngelino roots run deep. True story- My wedding to Fireman Matt took place in the rock garden at the LA Police Academy & on that night the lights of Dodger Stadium lit up the entire sky over my wedding site. It was so breathtaking that my Uncle Roy actually wept.
Dodger Stadium Has Layers Of Winning Teams.
Executive Chef Jason Tingley of the amazing Levy Restaurants group, has a team of winning food on the 2016 menu and a loyal team in the kitchen. You can’t find a Facebook post about him that doesn’t generate a string of comments praising his work, and the pleasure of working with him. I’d can say he was a darn nice guy when we spent lunch together, & he took his time to answer all of my questions & even share some secrets.
Our picks for the 2016 season (me & Chef, that is) are the Wings! That delicious BBQ sauce & the unique rub that Chef Tingley created himself, should be bottled & sold. (And if that ever happens I want credit.) Chef Jason has a passion for grilling & you can tell with every bite of his juicy chicken wings, crisp fries, with fresh carrot & celery sticks on top. Think Blue BBQ located in Left Field.
Another reason to buy seats in the field, is what happens in Right Field: Tommy Lasorda’s Trattoria. The Sr. VP Planning and Development Janet Marie Smith, told me the Chicken Parm is a must.
Other new dishes I tried & recommend are: Specialty Nachos Verde, Shock Top Bratwurst, Chicken Verde Sandwich, King’s Hawaiian Dog, and the Gouda Kobe Burger Which is what Chef said he was most excited about.
After lunch we were lead on a VIP tour with so much history & information that I can’t even convey it in just one blog post. Instead, can I recommend taking a tour yourself? Did you know they host one before EVERY GAME!? You will be blown away with how extensive & impressive it is. I told my dad (HUGE Dodger fan & retired LAPD) that I can only describe it as “Touring the Vatican of Baseball”. It gave me chills.
My husband Fireman Matt was equally impressed. He loves sports & he grew up in LA too. He’s a food blogger & runs CompanyChow.com But most importantly his wonderful wife thought it would be a romantic lunch date. I was so right. (Tip for the ladies. And Fathers Day is around the corner. You’re welcome.)
The first pitch of the season at Dodger Stadium will be thrown April 12th against the Diamondbacks 1:10pm PST. Get tickets & ask about group rates, box seats and the different tours they offer. Mark your calendars ahead with specialty nights like Bobbleheads, Fireworks, Movies (They are showing Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!), even special family nights & my favorites, the Fire & Police nights.
I’ll meet you out at the ballgame! You can buy me some peanuts & crackerjacks (And some Verde Nachos & BBQ baby!)
