Watching the Golden Globes tonight we were awed by the number of #MomsinMedia that were nominated or on the stage. Women who have found their voice above the chaos of motherhood and seem to do it with such grace. We were cheering as Amy Poehler and Tina Fey opened the show with their smart and funny dialogue and as Katie Holmes, Naomi Watts, JLo and Kate Hudson swept onto the stage to announce award winners. Our hearts were full to know that Reese Witherspoon was nominated for Wild and Julianne Moore for Still Alice. The list of Moms nominated tonight is endless…Frances McDormand, Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Patricia Arquette, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kiera Nightly is preggers. Whoop it up for Moms in Hollywood! The only show about moms that was nominated was the show called Mom, and Allison Janney keeps racking up the nominations for her role in that sad portrayal of moms (whoops did I say that?) show.
We thought there were a few moms missing from tonight though. What about Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair who write, star-in and produce the incredibly funny Playing House? Or Kristen Bell who is a mad genius in her role on House of Lies. And if we’re counting moms of pets in this list I’d also like to include Famke Janssen for her incredibly dark, sexy and twisted portrayal of a vampiric immortal on Hemlock Grove...just because I can’t stop watching it. I love that show. But I digress.
Moms – way to represent at the Golden Globes tonight! You are amazing.
PS – Amy Poehler has a blog called SmartGirls that did a campaign tonight about asking women smarter questions on the red carpet. We don’t know what her site is about yet but we are excited to learn more. Because it looks young girl inspiring. We likey.
