Traditional Day Camp
GSF is happy to announce their City Seedlings Summer Camp 2016!
The Garden School Foundations’ City Seedling Summer camp uses GSF’s Seed-to-Table philosophies to encourage play, exploration and learning in their 2 acres of beautiful school gardens. During two week-long sessions in June, campers will be welcomed to GSF’s landmark 24th Street school garden for an exciting week of cooking, gardening and science activities, outdoor games and arts & crafts. Campers will leave the day camp with new cooking and gardening skills, new friends, an appreciation for nature and an understanding of where their food comes from.
City Seedlings campers will have the opportunity to:
Whip up a delicious menu of garden-inspired culinary creations! Kid-chefs will assemble & enjoy fun recipes that incorporate fruits and veggies from the garden; including garden sushi, taco salad, ice cream and rainbow crackers.
Engage in interactive science activities like compost critters, prune paratrooper and leaf sun-tan, all taking place outside in GSF’s living garden-laboratory.
Cultivate a life-long connection with nature through engaging in fun garden activities
Form friendships during active, outdoor games
Create and collaborate with arts & crafts

About us: The Garden School Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides interactive garden-based learning to children in underserved communities across Los Angeles in our beautiful living classrooms. Since 2003, we’ve been turning asphalt into ecosystems, working to create a healthy, educated and aware future generation that care for their bodies and for the earth. Currently we are serving at five Title1 elementary schools and serve over 2,500 students and their families; bringing to life what’s taught in the classroom and giving kids the tools they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
