I recently visited BEL KAZAN located amid a myriad of hip coffee shops and vegan grocery stores on Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park. What started as the office where founder Belinda Kazanci’s team works with a myriad of retailers from Anthropologie to Nordstrom is now also a retail location. So many of Belinda’s friends kept popping by to purchase a dress or one of her much coveted pair of pants that she added a retail area in the front. A trip to Bali 14 years ago inspired Belinda Kazanci to launch her clothing line. She built her own factory where she trains and teaches skills to many Balinese. Less of a factory and more of an open-air creative environment surrounded by greenery, her team in Bali produce original prints inspired by patterns and colors in nature and from local Balinese textiles. All designs are a mix of East meet West. Each motif is handprinted giving everything a natural look using traditional Balinese textile printing techniques.
All BEL KAZAN products are handmade in Bali. They are focused on recycling materials and creating minimal waste. Fabric scraps are donated to create usable products such as baby clothes, floor mats, and pillow stuffing. Belinda’s goal is to train and provide more skills and give back to the community.
