Enjoy the Rest of Summer At Your Own Private Lagoon for $5 Per Kid
Bored and beaten down by the local beach with it’s expensive parking, ice cold water, long trek down to the sand, crazy crowds and sketchy amenities? Never fear, Seaside Lagoon is here! Located a short drive off the freeway and minutes away from the Redondo Pier, Redondo Beach’s Seaside Lagoon is a little slice of well-priced beach heaven.
With ample parking adjacent (just $4.50 with validation from the lagoon staff) and a circular drive through where you can drop off your beach gear, and a few steps only to the beach (after paying just $6 per adult and $5 per child), your day at the beach starts out as a walk in the park. A just perfectly deep enough, totally sandy beach stretches around the private lagoon roped off into shallow and deeper areas and surrounded by lifeguards so you can actually get a few pages of your book read instead of constantly scanning the water for your kids.
A fun pirate-themed playground and structure are on one end of the beach, right next to
the Ruby’s Diner with it’s own dedicated walk up window for Seaside Lagoon visitors including root beer floats and hot dogs. Continuing around past those, and directly across from the longest stretch of beach for easy viewing and waving, are two perfectly sized water slides. Scattered throughout the lagoon are various water features that spray, sprinkle or squirt the kids with streams of water. The waveless lagoon allows kids to sit easily at water’s edge building castles or happily splashing and swimming around.
Clean restrooms and outdoor showers allow for quick clean ups from sand and spills. Concrete benches near both of these areas serve as staging areas as you get ready to come and go from your waterside spot. There are even nearby lawn areas with grass umbrellas and BBQs that can be reserved for private parties and easy entertaining. Sadly, this bit of seaside heaven is seasonal, so best get there before they close September 3.
