The Skirball’s Fun-Filled Summer for Kids
The Skirball Cultural Center is one of MomAngeles’ favorite places to take our kids! This summer, the Skirball is offering a host of unique and creative activities and programs for kids.
You can drop in anytime Tuesday – Sunday at the Family Art Studio to craft a unique work of art with teaching artist Nancy Konrardy-Proett and other artist educators. Each session is designed to inspire the whole family to think creatively and to work together. Project themes and materials change every week, so drop in often all summer long! Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Family Art Studio is included with your museum admission and does not require reservations.
Do you have a future archaeologist in the bunch? Stop by Archaeology Adventures, Skirball’s simulated outdoor archaeological dig and field laboratory. Slip on an archaeologist’s vest, sift and sort through sand to find hidden artifacts, weigh and examine your findings, analyze clues, and work with archaeology staff to piece together the puzzles of the past. Open Thursday – Sunday during regular museum hours (weather permitting ). This interactive adventure is included in museum admission and does not require reservations.

And of course there always Noah’s Ark at the Skirball™! Inspired by the ancient flood story, this interactive family destination welcomes visitors of all generations and teaches the values of collaboration and caretaking. Mingle with hundreds of animals, including life-sized puppets, all crafted from recycled materials and everyday objects. Your visit to Noah’s Ark is included in your museum admission, children must be accompanied by an adult and advance tickets are recommended as a limited number of people are allowed in every two hours.
During the Summer there will be numerous concerts in the Family Amphitheater. Come sing, dance, hear storytelling, experience magic and circus arts, and meet live animals at the Skirball’s beautiful outdoor amphitheater. Come see different performers each Saturday and Sunday through September 2. You won’t want to miss a show! Concerts are included in your museum admission and take place at 12:00pm and 2:00pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Upcoming performances include Kinetic Theory, Mostly Kosher, Kutturan Chamoru and many more.
