Parade Magazine Today

Check out MomAngeles in Parade Magazine today! It’s the “Then & Now” 30th anniversary issue. 11 years ago I was a publicist and marketing consultant in Atlanta and was asked to be in Parade Magazine’s annual “What People Earn” issue (which is the most highly read issue of Parade magazine every year.) And back then I was blonde. You can’t read the actual info about each participant unless you download the App. It’s a fun issue to read and gives you a snapshot of industries and incomes across America.

  1. I was kind of excited when I saw this- a blogger is represented! Awesome. Then I saw that your income was listed at $0. How is that possible with a sidebar full of sponsors?

Great question! BC last year, in 2011, I didn’t earn any income. I was still on Typepad and unable to sell advertising. But I had built up a lot of traffic. In February of 2012 I rebranded, launched a Word Press site and started doing events and selling advertising!

When they called me to do this piece I jumped at it bc so many Moms are trying to reinvent their careers, and many of us via blogging. And the truth is that earning an income from one’s blog is a constant struggle I hear from many Mom bloggers. Plus it takes years to build site traffic. That said there are many Mom bloggers who, had they been in the article, would have had a significant $ amount under their name! Maybe they will interview me again in a few years and I will be one of them.
